12/5/07 at approx 10:00am SBGFD was notified of a possible structure fire located on Museum Village Road. Asst Chief John McGuire arived on scene to find a 6,000 square foot work shop fully involved. Chief Mcguire called in a second alarm which included apparatus from Washingtonville FD, Monroe FD, Chester FD, Goshen FD, Woodbury FD and Warwick FD. Members were able to keep the fire from spreading to nearby structures and had the fire under control in about 90 minutes. The work shop was packed with construction material as well as 4 vehicles which were all destroyed.






9/23/2007 SBGFD responds to an MVA on Route 17 at exit 129 were a truck traveling west bound struck the rear of a contruction vehicle. Thruway workers we doing line painting. Luckly no workers were injured.




8/28/2007 SBGFD responds to a one car MVA on Route 208.




5/13/2007 South Blooming Grove FD assists Monell Engine Co with a working structure fire in an apartment above Washingtonville Auto Parts. Members of SBGFD are scene here taking care of roof operations


4/19/2004       26 Arce brush fire off of Peddler Hill Rd. First arriving units found a large area of fire which spread rapidly due to high winds and dry conditions. Mutual Aid was requested from  Monroe, Washingtonville, Chester, Mt. Lodge, Salisbury Mills, Vails Gate, Tuxedo, Harriman, Lakeside, Cornwall and Goshen Fire Departments for man power, 4wd ATV units and tools.

2/4/05 On Feb 4th 2nd Asst Chief John Mcguire noticed heavy smoke from his residence a few houses down. Investigating he found a large volume of fire from #6 Houston Ave. Notifying dispatch he sound SBGFD and mutual aid departments. Fire was started on the basement level in the laundry area and burnt through the floor into the 2nd floor. First arriving units stretched lines in the front door and around the exposure 3/4 side of the building. Mutual Aid companies from Washingtonville, Monroe, Mt Lodge and Lakeside assisted.




5/18/05 A driver heading north on route 208 at approx 2:30am lost control of his vehicle hitting a dirt mount and launching the car about 15 feet in the air. The vehicle landed vertical about 20 feet in the woods coming to rest on a tree. The driver suffered only minor injuries.



6/29/05 SBGFD was called Mutual Aid to Woodbury Fire District at 0035 hours for 1 Engine and 1 Rescue. Engine 585 was called to the scene and Rescue 586 was put on standby in Woodbury's main quarters to cover any additional calls. Heavy fire destroyed the main building of Ace Farms and extended to two other structures. SBGFD units were released at 06:10am

7/10/05 SBGFD was called Mutual Aid to Washingtonville Fire District with one engine for a large volume of fire on Silk road. Engine 585 responded and assist with manpower and overhaul operations

7/16/05 SBGFD was called along with Chester FD to a 2 car MVA on Rte 17 with 3 fatalaties. See attached article.




7/28/05 SBGFD received a call at 6:00 am for a motor vehicle accident on Route 208 with entrapment. Chief Doerrbecker arrived on scene to find a van on it's side with the driver trapped and his arm pinned out side the vehicle between the door and the roadway. The second vehicle was pushed up against the roof of the van and the second driver was sitting next to the vehicle. Chief Doerrbecker called for air bags to raise the van and Hurst tools to cut the trapped victim out. Mutual Aid was called from Washingtonville FD for one rescue to the scene to assist with extrication and one engine to set up a landing zone. 2 helicopters were landed and both drivers were flown to area hospitals.





9/24/05 The South Blooming Grove Fire Dept recieved a call for a bicyclist that went into a ditch on the side of the road while riding in an annual bike run. Upon arrival Chief Doerrbecker found a man lying in a ditch unconcious and bleeding from the head. After examination by BGVAC and SBGFD it was determined that a helicopter would be needed for immediate transport to a trauma center. While enroute from the scene to the landing zone the man went into cardiac arrest. After about 25 minutes of work by BGVAC and Stat Flight medic the man was stable for transport.




Dec 25, 2005   At approx 2225 SBGFD was dispatched to a possible structure fire on Shannon Lane. Upon arrive Chief Doerrbecker came across a single family dwelling with heavy on the 1st and 2nd floors. Chief Doerrbecker transmitted a 2nd Alarm which added additional units from Washingtonville FD Salisbury Mills, Monroe, Woodbury and Lakeside. Units remained on scene for approx 4 hours




March 5, 2006 36 control dispatched the Washingtonville Fire Department to a reported structure fire at 29 Goshen Road.

Upon arrival of Washingtonville Command the 2nd alarm was struck for the box. The 2nd alarm brought tankers from Chester, Monroe, Sailsbury Mills, Maybrook, and Campbell Hall to the scene as well as an engine from So. Blooming Grove, and FAST Team from Vails Gate. Campbell Hall covered the tanker fill site.

SBGFD assisted with fire supression on the second floor and overhaul operations.




July 3 2006 SBGFD was dispatched to a 2 car MVA rollover with possible entrapment. First arriving units found a chevy pickup rolled on it's roof and an BMW off the road and 20 feet into the woods. Luckly all patients were out of the vehicled and refused any medical aid.




July 9 2006 Members of SBGFD working to extinguish a shed fire on route 208. Arriving units found a fully involved shed fire. Chief Fuentes called for a second engine for water. Fire was extinguished in about 20 minutes.
